Aimée & Samir (2025, 29') - finished

Aimée de Jongh, a renowned comic-book illustrator, travels to Lesbos to conduct research for her new book about Samir, a fictional Syrian boy. Her illustrations interweave with the landscape, animating her conversations with the islanders and refugees, as she is confronted by the discrepancy between wealth and displacement.

International premiere at Hot Docs 2026 (Toronto, Canada)

First Time (2026, 7') - in development

Directed by Catherine van Campen

Children's first life experiences are too many to mention; experiencing waves, running through a sprinkler, looking in a mirror and really seeing yourself for the first time. Sometimes these are experiences that are colored by things that children mainly see and feel (a coat on a hook in the dark is a monster). First Time is a short film in which we watch and live with a new experience of a 5-year- old. Partly due to the use of AI, we watch this experience frame by frame and see the shades and transitions of emotions that normally pass us by so quickly.

Cross Cuts (2022, 11') - finished

Directed by Catherine van Campen

Who were we as a young person? How will we be old? Where does time meet? Cross-Cuts is about the older and younger in ourselves. About the desire for earlier and looking forward for later. And about the insurmountable boundary that time draws between different phases of life, from which generations arise that each react differently to crises. One vital and free, the other hesitant and cautious. Or does it just seem that way? In Cross-Cuts, a younger and an older man move through a woodworking place, separately, in parallel, looking for rapprochement. Movements to the sound of wood, sometimes with the grain, sometimes crosscutting against the grain.

International premiere at Cinedans 2022 (Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
